LinkedIn launches collaborative articles for experts: how does it work?

 

 

LinkedIn has just announced the arrival of a new feature on its platform: collaborative articles. These publications will be initiated by artificial intelligence and then completed by experts. This novelty is not surprising when you know that LinkedIn is owned by Microsoft, which has invested heavily in AI with OpenAI technology in recent months, in particular by unveiling a new Bing offering a similar experience to ChatGPT.

LinkedIn collaborative articles will be introduced by artificial intelligence. This will make it possible to highlight a problem relating to certain professions. The social network also specifies that the topics can be general, covering a wide range of professions (“How can I get a promotion?” for example) or address a niche (“How can I make advertising for Generation Z?”).

These articles will be supplemented by experts identified by the platform, who will be invited to share their knowledge. As LinkedIn points out, artificial intelligence has the role of starting the conversation.

Collaborative articles will appear in your LinkedIn news feed, and will be accessible via the search function, within a dedicated section in the skills pages. You will also receive a notification if a new article is published in a skills page that you follow, or if one of the members of your network contributes to a publication. It will also be possible to access it via a query in search engines.

You will then have the opportunity to react to the articles, but also to the various contributions, in order to assess their relevance. You can also save them as is already the case for publications appearing on your feed.

Who can intervene in the articles?

For article contribution, LinkedIn will identify a panel of experts. The latter will be selected according to their skills and experience, but also taking into account their activity on the social network. The platform also specifies that it will pay attention to engagement in the articles (through reactions) for the selection of experts.

People selected to collaborate will receive a notification inviting them to contribute to an article. They will then have access to a section that says “Help us unlock the knowledge of the community. Add your ideas to this AI-powered collaborative article.” By accessing the article, the experts will then be able to write a contribution, containing 125 to 750 characters, on different paragraphs of the article. By clicking on the “lightbulb” icon, readers will indicate that they find the contribution relevant.Note that experts will be able to obtain a new “Community Top Voice” badge associated with their area of ​​expertise, which will appear on their LinkedIn profile. Currently, the feature is only accessible to a select few experts.
